Dear Neighbor:

I want to thank you for supporting our students and update you on the District’s continuing efforts to maintain quality education.

I am proud of our successful partnerships with Sonora Adventist Health and Columbia College to give students a chance to take college classes and get real-world job training. If we want to maintain excellence for every student, we must invest in upgrading our career technical classrooms to increase these kinds of opportunities for every student. Sonora High School is over 80 years old and needs significant repairs. 

To address these needs, the District is soliciting community feedback from parents, teachers, staff, and the public about their educational priorities. 

Priorities we have heard from the public so far include:

• • Providing quality education

  • Maintaining safe, clean drinking water 

  • Preparing students for college, career and 21st century jobs 

  • Retaining/attracting high quality teachers 

  • Removing asbestos, lead paint and mold 

  • Repairing leaky roofs
